Mercure Alice Springs Resort - Our Commitment to Sustainability

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Here at Mercure Alice Springs, we are committed to embedding sustainability into every facet of our daily operations. We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey and are continually striving to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible. Below are some of the initiatives we have implemented to date.

DRY AMENITIES

We are pleased to announce our continuous dedication to minimizing single-use plastics in our guest rooms. As a part of this effort, we have taken a significant step towards creating a plastic-free environment by discontinuing the use of single-use dry amenities. Recognising the importance of preserving our planet for future generations, we have eliminated single-use plastic items like toothbrushes and combs from our guest rooms, thus significantly reducing our environmental impact.

LARGE AMENTIES

As a part of our continuous endeavours, we have chosen to transition to large-format amenities, opting for eco-friendly pump dispensers instead of single-use plastic common amenities across the entire hotel. This proactive step towards eliminating single-use plastic bottles results in a considerable reduction in waste generated by our operations. This commitment resonates with our commitment to environmental stewardship and underscores our persistent focus on enhancing sustainability across all facets of our hotel.

RECYCLING

At Mercure Alice Springs, we implement a waste management system where all hotel waste is sorted into categories such as cardboard, food waste, and general waste, aiming to reduce our contribution to landfill. Furthermore, we've introduced refillable carton water, WaterBox, as an alternative to single-use plastic water bottles.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

We are committed to maintaining strong connections with our local community and give back wherever possible.

  • Organising and providing discount rates for meetings to local & national Indigenous Corporations and Councils
  • Recognising the traditional custodians of the land, the Arrente People, in our ‘Welcome Letter’ and on our emails
  • Indigenous artists products are sold through the gift shop
  • National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Associations’ (NASCA) Alice Springs office is located on-site
  • Donations of prizes for fundraising activities by local schools and groups

ACCESSIBILITY AT MERCURE ALICE SPRINGS RESORT

At Mercure Alice Springs, we endeavour to meet the many and varied requirements of our guests, inclusive of individuals with physical mobility limitations. Seven (7) special access rooms are available at the hotel.

We understand the everyday difficulties of limited mobility, hence our thoughtful consideration of ensuring our property caters to all guests and residents in public areas and the facilities. Our wide hallways provide plenty of room for walkers, wheelchairs and other specially made assistance devices. Our special access rooms feature walk in showers with a fold down seat and rails, both in the shower area and the toilet, to provide that added support that is sometimes needed.

If assistance animals are required, our team is well equipped to follow the correct procedures to ensure you and your helpful pet are welcomed. We just ask that you have any relevant documentation on hand.

Upon arrival all guests are able to request additional assistance in the case of emergency. This added level of support allows our guests to feel safe and relaxed throughout their stay. All our helpful staff members are appropriately trained to assist with any and all requests allowing you to relax at ease knowing you are in safe hands.
